who we are
WE ARE THE YOUNGS.
Colorado is our home base, which fits our love for nature and a healthy lifestyle. We LOVE the outdoors! Summertime means playing barefoot outside with bubbles, water, or chalk. Most likely, you will find us exploring Colorado’s nature by mountain bike or hikes, throwing rocks in creeks, or camping under the stars. In the winter months, we are either playing outside with the first snowflakes, hitting the slopes as a family, or eating popcorn at a movie night in our living room.

We are leaving a beautiful house and friend behind. After the return from our adventure we are excited to grow roots and to build our dream home. This dream house will have a lot of land for our kids and chickens to run free, a huge kitchen, open living space, and an outdoor fireplace.

But for now (after being a military family for the last 12 years), we decided that it is time for us to be in charge of our newest destination. We admit, though, that the idea of this nomadic lifestyle came through our many moves around the world where we developed a love for traveling and exploring new places. Chris served 20 years in the Army, so it is time that we had a choice in where we go. We are excited to travel the world full-time with our kiddos, a couple bags, and our camera gear.

It's going to be a challenge to leave all the luxury behind and live as minimalists. But, we are hoping this adventure brings us even closer together as a family, and will show our children other lifestyles and traditions. We will be documenting our journey for all of our followers and plan on serving someone in each new place we explore.
MEET THE CREW
MEET THE CREW
we thought it would be fun if each of us writes someone else's bio.
Here is what we came up with
CHRIS
Papa (43)
Chris like Beer. Lots of beer, but not just any beer. I call him a beer snob, since he has sampled over 2500 beers and rated them on his Untappd app. He is a really good cook, but prefers being my sous chef on family cooking nights.
One thing he really dislikes are bad drivers and non-rule followers.
A couple of weird facts about Chris:
He leaves wet sponges on the corner of the sink.
He takes pictures of his beers…
He is very competitive (which can get a bit annoying at times)
Riding one of his 3 bikes and staying fit is on the top of his priority list.
We love it when he makes breakfast on the weekends. He is great in navigating us through life and planning our adventures.
He loves everything I cook and is always open to try new things and share them with me.
His food dislike list is short: non-organic and GMO foods
If you ask me which places are on the top of his bucket list, I think Alaska fascinates him and Lukas. They love the cold and ever since watching Titanic together they talk about “icebergs”. Hawaii because he went to high school there and wants to go back and show us part of his past. We have never been to South America, and are just itching to explore new places like Costa Rica.
JULIA
Mama (24+)
Julia was born and raced in Germany. But, she isn't punctual, doesn't drink coffee/beer, and doesn't smoke cigarettes, so the German heritage is debatable! She loves playing soccer, doing dress up photoshoots with our kids/anyone else willing to participate, and also planning /hosting her Pinterest-inspired Galas (kid's birthday parties, Easter brunches, wine tasting dinners, etc). She is also pretty competitive in sports and games, and can kick our butts in Memory. Ironic, but she dislikes German customer service after living in the US for 10 years. Some of her other hobbies include going to the spa, glamping, and junking at flea markets/yard sales for "treasures". She is addicted to gluten and dark chocolate. She will not consume store bought salad dressing, any bread made with enriched and/or bleached flour, or Hershey's chocolate. She used to not eat any seafood, but has warmed up to Salmon, Scallops, and Calamari since we've been married. She is most excited to visit Africa and Australia.
LUKAS
SPORTY (8)
Lukas is the oldest. He was born in Monterey, California, and it totally fits his look and personality. He has been on a bike and skis since he was 2, and can rarely be found not on them. He is fluent in English and German, and wants to learn Italian as his next language. He likes playing soccer. His favorite soccer team is Bayern Munich and his favorite player is their goalie Manuel Neuer. Lukas dislikes sitting still. He ditched his naps when he was 18-months old, and has been solar powered pretty much since then. His brother says his weird habits include liking his hair blown dry and combed after a shower. Liam says that Lukas' favorite foods are Nutella bread, artichokes, peas, and American or German pancakes, but couldn't think of a food that Lukas dislikes saying "he eats anything!" Lukas is excited most to visit his family and friends in German but his bucket list is log. Alaska, Egypt, Australia, Iceland, Himalayas, Madagascar, ...
LIAM
CUDDLER (4)
Liam is our stereotypical middle child, and is usually pretty chill and relaxed. That is, until his older brother starts picking on him. He would rather play with his toys or read a book then play in the snow like his brother. He is a total cuddle bug that loves to be tickled on his belly, feet, and face. His older brother says Liam's likes include the color purple, jumping into foam pits, and playing with his Hess truck toys. Lukas says Liam's dislike is getting picked on by him, but for some reason Lukas can't stop doing it. According to Lukas, Liam's weird habits are that he doesn't get Croup even though his siblings do and that he likes getting tickled on his feet (Lukas says he would freak out if someone did that to him). Liam's hobbies include skiing, playing soccer, and going to gymnastics. Lukas thinks his brother's favorite foods are noodles, Nutella, and anything made of chocolate. The pickiest eater of our three kids, he prefers not to eat beef. He also doesn't like eating ice cream right out of the freezer because it's too cold (he prefers to slurp melted ice cream). Liam is also excited to travel back to Germany and wants to go on a "hotel boat".
CHALOTTE
CUTIE (1)
Charlotte is our Princess who loves to eat chocolate, cheese, milk, and pears. She's a bit sassy, and not afraid to tangle with her older brothers. She is a total girl and into clothes, shoes, and getting pretty. To fall asleep, she has this strange habit of continuously hitting herself in the head with her forearm while she grunts. She'll continue this for a few minutes until she falls asleep. One of her favorite things to do is to go outside with her older brothers and play with the big kids. Music and gym class also put the biggest smile on her face. The typical toddler, she doesn't like any warm or hot foods. She left Germany when she was only 18 days old, so she's also excited to travel back to see Oma and Opa.
